Night at the Museum – Pirate? Trader? or Mercenary?

10 Aug 2019 19:15-22:00
Did you know?
- The pirate fleets that once infested the South China Sea were once part of the Vietnamese navy!
- Even though the British offered huge bounties to capture pirates and record-breaking numbers of pirates were arrested, the problem still persisted.
- Like in some Hong Kong movies, the pirates of the sea and the traders on land were sometimes even in cahoots with each other!
In the past two years, the Hong Kong Maritime Museum has organised pirate-themed nights for our summer Night at the Museum events, and this year is no different. In this Night at the Museum, step into the role of a new recruit to the British Navy’s ‘China Station’ and learn more about the pirates of Hong Kong and the South China Sea in the 19th and 20th centuries through various games and activities.
Partnering with Morpheus Antique, who will be hosting object handling sessions, visitors will also have the opportunity to interact with various artifacts and hear about stories related to our theme of the night.
